HFD Financing Requirements
What you need to apply for an HFD payment plan, and what gets an application stopped.
Updated September 20Checked against HFD's published terms
To apply for HFD financing you need a Social Security number or tax ID (ITINs are accepted), an email address, a way to make automatic monthly payments, and a same-day or future treatment from a provider that offers HFD. HFD doesn't publish a minimum credit score and reports approving more than 99% of applicants.
Key facts
- A Social Security number or tax ID is required; ITINs are accepted.
- You need an email address, since HFD is paperless.
- Payments come from a bank account, card, or in some cases an HSA or FSA.
- Applicants without a bank account can apply with a co-applicant who has one.
- HFD doesn't publish a minimum credit score.

HFD eligibility rules
HFD's published eligibility policy lists these rules.
- Any existing HFD plan must be current and in good standing.
- Any bankruptcy on your file must be discharged or dismissed.
- You can't be on a government watch list.
- Some subprime and deep subprime programs allow only one active plan at a time.
- The amount financed, after any down payment, must meet the program minimum.
- Your total across all HFD plans must stay below the program's maximum credit limit.
- Your credit file can't be frozen or locked.
What HFD doesn't require
Several things other lenders ask for aren't required by HFD.
- A minimum credit score, since HFD looks at more than your score
- A hard credit check, since HFD uses a soft inquiry only
- A down payment in every case, since $0 down options exist
Does HFD have an age or state requirement?
HFD's published eligibility policy doesn't list an age or a state restriction.
Credit agreements are generally signed by adults, and a parent often applies when financing a teen's treatment. If you're unsure whether you qualify, ask your provider's office before you apply.
